Allgemeine Erscheinung:

Rustikaler, geschmeidiger, muskulöser und gut proportionierter Hund mit lebhaftem Gang und ausgeglichenem Charakter, weder aggressiv noch ängstlich.

Strafpunkte: Aggressiv, weichlich, ängstlich, schwerfällig.

Apparence générale:

Chien rustique, souple, musclé et bien proportionné, d'allure vive et éveillée, de caractère équilibré, ni agressif, ni peureux.

Pénalisation: Agressif, mou, peureux, balourd.

General appearance:

Hardy dog, supple, muscular and well proportioned. Alert and exhibiting vigor and agility, with a balanced temperament, neither aggressive nor timid.

Penalisation: Aggressive, soft, timid, clumsy.

Größe:

Rüden 62 bis 68 cm, Hündinnen 56 bis 64 cm. Die Länge des Körpers muss größer sein als die Schulterhöhe. Der Briard ist länglich.

Strafpunkte: Größe über der genannten Maximalgröße. Ein kleiner, gedrungener Hund wird nicht mit Vorzüglich bewertet.

Disqualifikation: Unter der Minimal- oder mehr als 2 cm über der Maximalgröße. Briards unter der Mindestgröße werden nicht zur Zucht zugelassen.

Taille:

0,62 m à 0,68 m pour les mâles,
0,56 m à 0,64 m pour les femelles.
La longueur du corps doit être plus importante que la hauteur. Le Briard est longiligne.

Pénalisation: Chien cob: pas d' EXC. Tailles supérieures à 0,68 m et 0,64 m.

Disqualification: Au-dessous du minima. Au-dessus de 2 cm en plus de la taille maxima. Tout sujet n'atteignant pas la taille minimum ne pourra pas être confirmé.

Size:

0,62 m to 0,68 m for males; 0,56 m to 0, 64 m for females
The length of the body must be greater than the height at shoulders. The general appearance of the Briard is rectangular.

Penalisation: Cobby dog: no Excellent. Sizes superior to 0,68 m and 0,64 m.

Disqualification: Below the minimum. More than 2 cm above the maximum size. All subjects not reaching the minimum size cannot be confirmed.

Kopf:

Kräftig und lang. Das Ende des Nasenrückens markiert die Mitte zwischen Kopfende und Nasenspitze [d.h. Schädel und Nasenrücken haben die gleiche Länge]. Der Kopf ist mit Fell bedeckt, das Bart und Schnurrbart ausbildet. Die Augenbrauen verschleiern die Augen leicht.

Strafpunkte: Kurzer oder zu langer Kopf. Mißverhältnis von Länge des Nasenrückens und des Schädels. Unausgeglichene Proportionen zwischen Kopf und Körper. Fellvolumen verdeckt zu stark die Kopfform. Bart, Schnurrbart und Augenbrauen unzureichend. Stop zwischen Nasenrücken und Schädel zu stark ausgeprägt oder fehlend.

Disqualifikation: wenn die genannten Fehler zu stark ausgeprägt sind.

Tête:

Forte, longue, cassure du nez marquée et placée à égale distance du sommet de la tête et du bout du nez, garnie de poils formant barbe, moustache, sourcils voilant légèrement les yeux.

Pénalisation: Tête courte, trop longue, dysharmonie entre chanfrein et crâne. Disproportion entre tête et corps. Tête poilue au point de masquer la forme: barbe, moustache et sourcils insuffisants, stop trop prononcé ou inexistant.

Disqualification: Les défauts mentionnés plus haut trop prononcés.

Head:

Strong, long, pronounced stop midway between the top of the head and the tip of the nose, furnished with hair forming beard, mustache and eyebrows slightly hiding the eyes.

Penalisation: Short head, too long, no balance between muzzle and skull. Disproportion between head and body. Hairy head to the extent of hiding the shape; beard, moustache and eyebrows insufficient, stop too pronounced or non-existent.

Disqualification: The above mentioned faults too pronounced.

Stirn:

Sehr leicht gerundet.

Strafpunkte: Stirn zu flach, zu rund, zu breit, zu den Augen hin abfallend.

Front:

Très légèrement arrondi.

Pénalisation: Trop plat, trop rond, trop large, tombant sur les yeux.

Forehead:

Very slightly rounded.

Penalisation: Too flat, too rounded, too broad, sloping on the eyes.

Nasenrücken:

Geradlinig.

Strafpunkte: Nasenrücken zu lang, schmal, zu kurz, [gebogene] "Adlernase".

Chanfrein:

Rectiligne.

Pénalisation: Trop long, grêle, trop court, busqué.

Top of muzzle:

Nasal bridge flat.

Penalisation: Too long, weak, too short. Nasal bridge convex (Roman nose).

Fang:

Weder schmal noch spitz.

Strafpunkte: Fang spitz, schmal oder zu breit. Hängende Lefzen.

Museau:

Ni étroit, ni pointu.

Pénalisation: Pointu, étroit ou trop gros, babines pendantes.

Muzzle:

Neither narrow nor pointed.

Penalisation: Pointed, narrow or too thick, pendulous flews.

Nase:

Mehr quadratisch als rund. Stets schwarz, kräftig und offen [d.h. offene Nasenlöcher].

Strafpunkte: Nasenspiegel klein, gedrückt, spitz, nicht schwarz oder mit Spuren von Rosafärbung.

Disqualifikation: Nase kastanienbraun oder heller. Rosafärbung.

Nez:

Plus carré que rond, truffe toujours noire, forte et ouverte.

Pénalisation: Truffe petite, serrée, pointue, autre que noire ou trace de ladre.

DisquaIification: Truffe marron ou plus claire, ladre.

Nose:

More square than round, always black, strong and open.

Penalisation: Small nose, pinched, pointed, other than black or with traces of pink.

Disqualification: Brown or lighter colored nose, pink.

Gebiß:

Stark, weiß und perfekt passend.

Strafpunkte: Fehlen eines oder zweier Schneidezähne. Schadhaftes Gebiß, leichter Vorbiß [oder Rückbiß] ohne Kontaktverlust. Fehlen eines oder zweier Prämolare.

Disqualifikation: Ausgeprägter Vorbiß [oder Rückbiß] mit Kontaktverlust. Fehlen von zwei Prämolaren 4 oder Fehlen von drei beliebigen Zähnen.

Dents:

Fortes, blanches et s'adaptant parfaitement.

Pénalisations:
- manque une incisive,
- dentition défectueuse, léger prognathisme sans perte de contact,
- manque une prémolaire,
- manque 2 incisives,
- manque 2 prémolaires.

DisquaIification: Prognathisme prononcé avec perte de contact. Manque de 2 PC 4 ou de 3 dents quelles qu'elles soient.

Teeth:

Strong, white and perfectly adapted.

Penalisation:
Absence of 1 incisor
Defective mouth, slight prognathism without loss of contact.
Absence of 1 premolar
Absence of 2 incisors
Absence of 2 premolar

Disqualification: Pronounced prognathism with loss of contact. Absence of 2 premolars 4 (PM4) on the lower jaw or absence of altogether 3 teeth whatever they are.

Augen:

Horizontal, gut geöffnet, eher groß, keine Schlitzaugen, dunkler Farbe, mit intelligentem und ruhigem Ausdruck. Ein graues Auge bei einem grauen Hund wird nicht bestraft.

Strafpunkte: Zu kleines Auge, mandelförmig oder helle Farbe.

Disqualifikation: Ungleiche Augen, verstörter Blick, zu helle Farbe.

Yeux:

Horizontaux, bien ouverts, plutôt grands, non bridés, de couleur foncée, d'expression intelligente et calme. Un oeil gris chez un gris n'est pas pénalisable.

Pénalisation: Oeil trop petit, en amande ou de couleur claire.

Disqualification: Yeux dissemblables, hagards, de teinte trop claire.

Eyes:

Horizontal, well opened, quite large, not slanting, of dark color, intelligent and calm expression. A gray eye in a gray dog is not to be penalized.

Penalisation: Eye too small, almond shaped or of a light color.

Disqualification: Eyes dissimilar, haggard, too light in color.

Ohren:

Hoch angesetzt. Nicht anliegend und eher kurz. Die Länge des Ohres soll der halben Kopflänge entsprechen oder ein klein wenig kürzer sein. Das Ohr soll stets flach sein und mit langem Fell bedeckt. [Das Kupieren der Ohren ist heute weitgehend verboten.]

Strafpunkte: Bedeckt mit zu kurzem Fell, zu lang, schlecht getragen.

Disqualifikation: Gerollte Ohren, zu tief unter der Augenlinie angesetzt, mit kurzem Fell bedeckt, in Naturform aufrecht, mit eingepflanztem Knorpel.

Oreilles:

Attachées haut, de préférence coupées et portées droites, non plaquées et plutôt courtes si elles sont laissées naturelles. A beauté égale, la préférence sera donnée au chien dont les oreilles portées droites auront été coupées. La longueur de l'oreille non coupée doit être égale ou légèrement inférieure À la moitié de la longueur de la tête, toujours plates et couvertes de poils longs.

Pénalisation: Couvertes de poils trop courts, trop longues, mal portées.

Disqualification: Oreilles papillotées, attachées trop basses en-dessous de la ligne de l'oeil, couvertes de poils ras, droites naturellement, greffe de cartilage.

Ears:

Set high, preferably cropped and carried erect; not flat against the head and rather short if uncropped. At equal quality, preference shall be given to the dog whose erect carried ears have been cropped. The length of the uncropped ear must be equal or slightly less than half the length of the head, always flat and covered with long hair.

Penalisation: Covered with too short hair, too long, carried badly.

Disqualification: Twisted ears, set too low below the eye-line, covered with short hair, naturally erect, graft of cartilage.

Hals:

Hals muskulös und abgesetzt von den Schultern.

Strafpunkte: Hals zu lang, dünn oder zu kurz.

Conformation:

Encolure musclée et dégagée des épaules.

Pénalisation: Encolure trop longue, grêle ou trop courte.

Neck:

Muscular and disengaged from the shoulders.

Penalisation: Reach of neck too long, frail or too short.

Brust:

Breit (handbreit zwischen den Ellenbogen), tief und hinabreichend bis zu den Ellenbogen.

Strafpunkte: Zu schmal, nicht ausreichend oder zu sehr abfallend, mangelnde Tiefe. Flanken zu flach oder zu rund.

Poitrine:

Large (largeur de la main entre les deux coudes), profonde et bien descendue jusqu'aux coudes.

Pénalisation: Trop étroite, pas suffisamment descendue ou trop, manquant de profondeur, côtes trop plates ou trop rondes.

Chest:

Wide (width of the hand between the two elbows), deep and well let down to the elbows.

Penalisation: Too narrow, not sufficiently or too much let down, lacking depth, ribs too flat or too round.

Rücken:

Gerade.

Strafpunkte: Leicht ein- oder ausgewölbt (Karpfenrücken).

Dos:

Droit.

Pénalisation: Dos légèrement incurvé, dos légèrement carpé.

Back:

Straight.

Penalisation: Slightly hollow, slight roach back.

Kruppe:

Ein wenig geneigt, mit leicht gerundeter Form.

Strafpunkte: Stark geneigt oder zu gerade, Fehler betont, Kruppe deutlich höher als der Widerrist.

Croupe:

Pénalisations: Croupe trop inclinée, croupe droite, même défauts accentués, croupe nettement plus haute que le garrot.

Rump:

Very slightly inclined, of a slightly rounded shape.

Penalisation: Rump too inclined, too straight, sSame faults accentuated, rump definitely higher than the withers.

Gliedmaßen:

Gut muskulös, mit starkem Knochenbau und senkrecht stehend.

Strafpunkte: Schlechte Lotstellung, lose Schultern, ausgedrehte Schenkel, schwache oder zu gerade stehende Fußgelenke, Stand auf den Zehen, schlechte Winkelung der Schulter, zu kurzes Fell an den Gliedmaßen, dünne Gliedmaßen, schwacher Knochenbau.

Disqualifikation: Schwere Fehler im Stand.

Membres:

Bien musclés, avec forte ossature et aplombs réguliers.

Pénalisations: Mauvais aplomb, épaules décollées, cuisses ouvertes, faiblesse des poignets ou trop droits, appui sur les doigts, mauvaise angulation de l'épaule, poils courts sur les membres, membres grêles, ossature faible.

Disqualification: Défauts graves d'aplombs.

Quarters:

Well muscled, with strong bone and vertical limbs.

Penalisation: Legs not vertical, loose shoulders, thighs set too much apart, weakness in pasterns or too straight, leaning on toes,
bad angulation of the shoulder, short hair on the legs, frail legs, weak bone structure.

Disqualification: Forelegs seriously not perpendicular.

Sprunggelenke:

Nicht zu nah am Boden und der Biegung des Beines folgend, sodaß der Fuß unterhalb des Sprunggelenkes sich der Vertikalen nähert.

Strafpunkte: Zu weit vom Boden oder zu nah am Boden, schlechte Winkelung.

Disqualifikation: Schwere Fehler im Stand.

Jarrets:

Pas trop près de terre et coudés avec le membre approchant de la verticale sous le jarret.

Pénalisations: Trop loin ou trop près de terre, mauvaise angulation.

Disqualification: Défauts graves d'aplombs.

Hocks:

Not too near the ground and angled with the leg nearing the vertical below the hock.

Penalisation: Too far from or too near the ground, bad angulation.

Disqualification: Hind legs seriously not perpendicular.

Rute:

Nicht kupiert, gut behaart, am Ende einen Haken bildend, tief getragen, nicht [seitlich] abweichend, die Spitze des Sprunggelenkes erreichend oder höchstens 5 cm darüber hinausreichend.

Strafpunkte: Etwas zu kurz, ohne Haken, Behaarung zu kurz, die Rückenlinie weit übersteigend getragen, unter dem Bauch getragen, im Lauf unter dem Bauch getragen.

Disqualifikation: Über dem Rücken in Jagdhornform oder senkrecht (steil) getragen, Hinweise auf Operationen zur Haltungskorrektur.

Queue:

Entière, bien garnie, formant crochet à l'extrémité, portée basse, non déviée devant atteindre la pointe du jarret, dépasser celui-ci de 5 cm au plus.

Pénalisations: Un peu trop courte, absence de crochet, poils trop courts, port dépassant largement la ligne de dos, port sous le ventre, port sous le ventre à l'action.

Disqualification: Portée sur le dos en cor de chasse ou perpendiculaire (raide), trace d'opération rectifiant le port.

Tail:

Entire, well furnished, forming a hook at the tip, carried low, not deviated, reaching the point of the hock or beyond it at most 5 cm.

Penalisation: A little too short, no hook, hair too short, carriage very much exceeding the line of the back, carriage below or under the belly, carriage under the belly when in action.

Disqualification: Carried on the back in hunting horn or perpendicular (stiff), trace of operation rectifying the tail carriage.

Pfoten:

Kräftig mit runder Form (Zwischenform von Katzen- und Hasenpfoten).

Strafpunkte: Pfoten zu lang, flach, gespreizt, aus- oder eingedreht (X-beinig), ohne ausreichende Behaarung.

Disqualifikation: Schwere Fehler im Stand.

Pieds:

Forts, de forme ronde (intermédiaire entre le pied de chat et le pied de lièvre).

Pénalisations: Pieds trop longs, plats, écrasés, portés en dehors (panard) ou en dedans (cagneux), pas suffisamment couverts de poils.

Disqualification: Défauts graves d'aplombs.

Feet:

Strong, round shaped (intermediate between cat feet and hare feet).

Penalisation: Feet too long, flat, splayed, toeing in or out, not sufficiently covered with hair.

Disqualification: Feet seriously not perpendicular.

Krallen:

Schwarz.

Strafpunkte: Graue Krallen.

Disqualifikation: Weiße Krallen.

Ongles:

Noirs.

Pénalisations: Ongles gris.

Disqualification: Ongles blancs.

Nails:

Black.

Penalisation: Gray nails.

Disqualification: White nails.

Ballen:

Hart.

Strafpunkte: Ballen ohne Elastizität, zu flach, zu weich.

Soles:

Dures.

Pénalisation: Soles sans élasticité, trop plates, trop molles.

Pads:

Hard.

Penalisation: Without elasticity, too flat, too soft.

Zehen:

Eng stehend.

Strafpunkte: Zehen gespreizt, zu lang, flach getragen.

Doigts:

Serrés.

Pénalisation: Doigts écartés, trop longs ou portant à plat.

Toes:

Tightly closed.

Penalisation: Open toes, too long or held flat.

Fell:

Gedreht, lang, trocken (nach Art von Ziegenhaar) mit leichter Unterwolle.

Strafpunkte: Nicht ausreichend trocken, etwas lockig, Fehlen der Unterwolle. Im Falle einer Zulassung zur Zucht für 6 Monate zurückstellen, wenn das Fell zu kurz oder zu fein ist.

Disqualifikation: Fellänge weniger als 7 cm, Fell weich oder wollig.

Poil:

Flexueux, long, sec (genre poil de chèvre) avec un léger sous poil.

Pénalisations: Pas suffisamment sec, légèrement frisé, absence de sous poil. En cas de demande de confirmation ajournement à six mois, - trop court, - poil fin.

Disqualification: Poil de moins de 7 cm. Poil mou ou laineux.

Coat:

Texture: Flexible, long, dry (type of goat hair), with a light undercoat.

Penalisation: Not dry enough, slightly curly, no undercoat. In case of requiring acceptance for breeding: postponement of 6 months,
Too short Fine hair.

Disqualification: Coat (hair) shorter than 7 cm. Coat soft or woolly.

Fellfarbe:

Alle gleichförmigen Farben außer den unten erwähnten sind erlaubt. Dunkle Farben sind zu empfehlen. Zweifarbigkeit ist nicht zu verwechseln mit einer leicht helleren Tönung der Extremitäten, die nichts anderes als eine beginnende Depigmentierung ist. Diese leicht hellere Farbe muß im gleichen Bereich der fauven Farbskala bleiben (dunkles Fauve über hellem Fauve, dunkles Schwarz über aufgehelltem Schwarz, dunkles Grau über hellerem Grau etc.) Das Fauve muß warm und einheitlich sein und weder hell noch verwaschen.

Strafpunkte: Schwarz mit zu viel rötlichem Schimmer, fauve nicht warm genug, weißer Fleck auf der Brust, zu ausgeprägte Schwärzungen an der Grenze zum Mantel, zu helles Fauve, verwaschen.

Disqualifikation: Weiße, kastanienbraune oder Mahagonifarbe, Zweifarbigkeit, weißer Streifen, weißes Haar an den Pfotenenden, fauves Fell mit schwarzem Mantel, zu helle Farbe.

Anmerkung: Bei zweifarbigen Tieren muß die Haut unter den dunklen Fellpartien bläulich und unter den hellen Partien rosa sein.

Robe:

Toutes les couleurs uniformes sont admises sauf les couleurs mentionnées ci-dessous. Les couleurs foncées sont à recommander. Ne pas confondre bicolore avec une légère teinte plus claire, des extrémités qui n'est autre qu'un commencement de dépigmentation. Cette teinte, légèrement plus claire, doit rester dans la même nuance des couleurs fauves (fauve foncé sur fauve clair, noir foncé sur noir éclairci, gris foncé sur gris plus clair, etc ...). Le fauve doit être chaud et uniforme, n'être ni clair ni délavé.

Pénalisation: Noir avec trop de reflets roussâtres fauve pas suffisamment chaud, tache blanche au poitrail, charbonnures trop marquées à la limite du manteau, fauve très clair, délavé.

Disqualification: Teinte blanche, marron, acajou, bicolore, liste blanche, poils blancs au bout des pattes. Robe fauve à manteau, charbonnures formant manteau. Teinte trop claire.

Nota: pour le bicolore, regarder la couleur de la peau qui sera bleutée à la base des parties foncées et rosée aux parties claires.

Color:

All uniform colors are admitted apart from those mentioned below. The dark shades are to be recommended. Not to be confused: the bicolor with a slightly lighter shade on the extremities which is nothing more than a beginning of depigmentation. This shade, slightly lighter, must remain in the same range of the fawn colors (dark fawn on light fawn, dark black on lightened black, dark gray on lighter gray, etc).
The fawn must be warm and uniform, neither light or washed out.

Penalisation: Black with too many reddish glints. Fawn not warm enough, white patch on chest, blackening overlay to pronounced at the edge of the shading. Very light fawn, washed out.

Disqualification: White shade, brown (chestnut), mahogany, bicolor, white blaze, white hairs on tip of feet. Fawn coat with black overlay forming a mantle. Color too light.

Note: For the bicolor, look at the color of the skin which will be bluish under the dark parts and pinkish under the light parts.

Afterkrallen:

Doppelte Afterkrallen an den Hinterläufen. Selbst Tiere von sehr gutem Typ, die nur eine Afterkralle besitzen, können nicht prämiert werden. Die Zulassung zur Zucht wird ihnen nicht erteilt. Die doppelten Afterkrallen müssen beide mit Knochen und Krallen ausgestattet sein und außerdem so nahe wie möglich am Boden angesetzt sein, um eine bessere Pfotenhaltung zu gewährleisten.

Strafpunkte: Zu hoch angesetzt (auf halber Höhe zum Sprunggelenk), Fehlen zweier Krallen, Fehlen eines Knochens in einer doppelten Afterkralle.

Disqualifikation: Einfache oder fehlende Afterkrallen, Fehlen beider Knochen in einer doppelten Afterkralle (auch wenn die Krallen vorhanden sind), Fehlen jeweils eines Knochens in jeder doppelten Afterkralle (auch wenn die Krallen vorhanden sind).

Ergots:

Ergots doubles, aux pattes arrières. LES CHIENS, MEME TRES BIEN TYPES, NE POSSEDANT QU'UN ERGOT, NE POURRONT PAS ETRE PRIMES. Ils seront refusés à la confirmation. Les doubles ergots doivent être constitués de deux parties osseuses avec ongles, plantés aussi près que possible du sol, afin d'assurer une meilleure assise du pied.

Pénalisation: Plantés trop haut (mi-hauteur du canon), manque de deux ongles, manque d'une partie osseuse dans un double ergot.

Disqualification: Ergots simples, manque d'ergots, manque de deux parties osseuses dans un double ergot, même s'il y a présence des ongles, manque d'une partie osseuse dans chaque double ergot, même s'il y a présence des ongles.

Dew claws:

Double dew claws on the back legs.
The dogs, even of very good type, who only have one dew claw, will not be given an award. Acceptance for breeding will be refused.
The double dew claws must be made up of two bony parts with nails, placed as near the ground as possible, assuring a better setting of the foot.

Penalisation: Placed too high (midway of the hock), lack of two nails, lack of bony section in a double dew claw

Disqualification: Single dew claws, mo dew claws. Lack of two bony sections in a double dew claw, even if the nails are there. Lack of one bony section in each double dew claw, even if the nails are there.
